Darrell McDowell is twenty-four years old and from Olney, Illinois. Darrell’s interest for racing started early at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana. As a young boy Darrell loved to watch his uncle, John Deimel, race his street stock and modified. As Darrell grew, so did his passion for racing. Finally at age 20, Darrell’s dreams of being behind the wheel came true thanks to his uncle, Al McDowell. Al owned a Honda CRX that was turned into a 4-cylinder stock car. Darrell gained his first feature win in the #38 Honda CRX at the beginning of the 2006 season at Clay County Speedway. As the 2006 season began, Darrell made the decision to purchase his first U.M.P. Modified. Soon after purchasing his 2004 Dirtworks, Darrell was on the track thanks to his parents and help from his family (Mom and Dad, Uncle Johnny, Uncle Arron, Justin Hatten, Jesse Ginder, Andrea Lockley, Grandpa Charlie and Grandma Pat). After two years of racing his Dirtworks, Darrell’s got the opportunity to join the Tim Huddleston Race Team. During the 2008 season Darrell drove a Bob Pierce Race Car around Indiana and Illinois. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelors of Science in Business in May of 2009 Darrell decided to take the 2009 race season off to help focus on his new career as a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones. Look for him to be back on the track in 2010. Darrell considers his home tracks to be Clay County Speedway and Tri-State Speedway.
When Darrell is not at the races or shop, he works for Edward Jones as a Financial Advisor. In his free time, Darrell enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Andrea Lockley, hanging out by the pool with his family, and playing basketball.
